Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Message of preparation for the season of Lent from Father George:
Dear Sisters and Brothers,

On Wednesday, 6th of March, we are starting season of Lent, annual 40 days preparation for the Feast of the Resurrection (Easter). Jesus thru His life, Passion and death has redeemed us from the power of sin and gave a grace to live with him in the love of God. Still, we have to work with the grace and once accepting it, we have to confirm our choice every day by love of God and neighbor, prayer and repentance of sins. It is not al-ways easy and demands self -discipline, strengthening our will and mind as well as mortification of the body.

All Roman Catholics, if their health and age allows them are obliged to observe the Lent by fasting and acts of mercy. Today there are only two days of fasting: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. On these days, healthy and not nursing Catholics aged between 18 and 60 are allowed to eat only one full meal and two light ones (they are not supposed to satisfy the hunger but only sustain the strength). Also on these two days and every Friday during Lent we (14 and up old) are to abstain from meat.

In order to pray and meditate on the Passion of our Lord, every Friday we will have Stations of the Cross (with Lenten soup) at 1800 hrs. and on the 9th of April, Lenten Penance Service will give an extra chance to get rid of our sins.

Each one of us can and should add her/his personal exercise so on the Easter Sunday we will be able to sing together joyfully, thanking God for His life and love that is stronger than death and sin.

God bless, Fr. George
